May 9: Mercury Transits the Sun. See Mercury pass in front of the sun from 10am-12noon at the LSU Shreveport Science Building.
May 14: National Astronomy Day (Spring). Noon time Solar Observing at LSU Shreveport Science Building; Evening Observing at Worley Observatory. Featuring the Moon, Jupiter, Mars, and many deep sky objects.

In the event of a Cloudy Night, the Worley Observatory will feature an indoor tour of the universe and the observatory!
Location:
The Ralph A. Worley Observatory is located about 8 miles south of the LSU-Shreveport campus, off Hwy. 1. Go south on Hwy. 1, turn onto Hwy. 175 and go about 1.7 miles. Turn onto Astronomical Observatory Rd. and go about 100 yards to the observatory.

The Shreveport-Bossier Astronomical Society, Inc. is a 501(c) (3) tax exempt organization. Donations to the Society are tax deductible. Your donation helps to keep public events free, aid in the development of new programs, and provides equipment used at the public events.
The Society began its Worley Observatory Golden Year Fund raising effort in order to revitalize the Worley Observatory, provide new state-of-the-art equipment to enhance the star party experience, develop new educational programs.
